Malta Elopement Wedding Photography

I recently went on a trip to Malta where I spent the week with a lovely group of photographers. We had so much fun exploring the island and planned to do a styled elopement shoot with a gorgeous couple at St Peter’s Pool which is one of the most stunning natural swimming pools in Malta. It has a stunning coast line and is a popular snorkelling and cliff diving location.

Malta is full of absolutely beautiful places to visit, but here are some of my must see’s:

  • Valletta (the capital) - full of beautiful architecture, historical museums and amazing views.

  • Mdina (the former capital) - known as the silent city and is full of quaint charming streets .

  • Sliema and St Julian’s (the most touristic places) - great if you want to visit a busy city or party!

  • Marsaxlokk - has the best fishing markets on a Sunday. Full of lots of bars and restaurants at the port.

  • Blue Grotto - another beautiful cave area, similar to St Peter’s Pool.

  • Dingli cliffs - the highest point in Malta, a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the views.

  • Gozo (the second largest island in Malta) - It’s more rural and quiet with wonderful landscapes and nice beaches and coves.

  • The blue lagoon - a stunning lagoon with turquoise water, great for boat trips!

If you are thinking about having a destination wedding Malta would make a stunning backdrop. The island is full of the most beautiful churches, charming villas, quaint farmhouses, grand castles and luxury hotels offering so many perfect options to host your wedding. Seasonally, Malta is a dream. It is sunny all the time (over 300 days a year according to figures) meaning you can have your dream outdoor wedding with breath taking views all year round!

The photoshoot was organised by a lovely photographer friend Frances, who is half Maltese and had photographed Zak & Erika previously for a personal project. We sourced the flowers, dresses and suits ourselves prior to the trip as this was a photographer only styled shoot rather than having other suppliers involved. The flowers were purchased at a local market and Erika did here own hair and make up ready for the shoot.
